About the Course:
Home Alone Safety for Kids is a unique workshop for boys and girls ages 8 to 13 years old who are left home alone. This interactive 90 minute course will cover safety concerns parents have when their children are by themselves. Students will learn to be more aware of the potential dangers that they could face when they are alone.
Each student will receive a workbook that covers safety topics such as your house key, indoor and outdoor (including kitchen), fire and gas leak, as well as getting along with siblings. We will also review first aid kit essentials and phone, door, and internet safety. The class size is limited to fifteen students to allow for optimal opportunities for participation.
Parents/Guardians will receive a workbook with conversations starters such as creating a family fire escape plan and the importance of an emergency contact list.
Sarah Calos is an experienced Youth Services Bureau Coordinator skilled in adolescent education and positive youth development. She has over nine years of experience facilitating this workshop. She is a strong community and social services professional with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
New this year: your child will receive their own first aid kit and flashlight!

I, the participant or parent/guardian of the above named participant in the Bolton Recreation program(s), give my approval for his/her participation in any and all activities within the program. I give permission for all program volunteers and employees to provide emergency first aid or obtain emergency medical treatment for myself or my child in the event that an emergency occurs. I agree to abide by the Recreation Department Policies with program registrations. I understand participants may be photographed and used in program publicity. I understand that payment is due by the final registration date in order to avoid a $10.00 late fee per registrant.
